Returning Georgia veterans may suffer from anxiety

Employees at the Atlanta VA Medical Center report that many returning veterans suffer from anxiety disorders. Perhaps the most well known example is post traumatic stress disorder, although there are a range of conditions which may produce anxiety-related symptoms.

Grand Ole Opry artist has carpal tunnel syndrome

Georgia readers who are fans of fiddle-playing country music performer and Grand Ole Opry member Charlie Daniels may be adding his latest album to their holiday gift wish list. The album, a Christmas project entitled "Hallelujah It's Christmas Time Again," contains holiday-themed tunes styled with the artist's usual mixed style of rock, country, bluegrass, blues and gospel.

Georgia company targets retinal disease and vision loss

Alimera Sciences, Inc., a biopharmaceutical company based in Georgia that focuses on diseases affecting the retina, recently signed a Master Services Agreement with Quintiles Commercial Europe Ltd. for the commercial launch of a product for the treatment of chronic diabetic macular edema, a type of vision loss that can be difficult to treat.

Georgia researchers explore voting aids for disabled vets

Although the hotly contested presidential election is now over, researchers at the Georgia Institute of Technology still have it on their mind. They, along with the Information Technology and Innovation Foundation and the Operation BRAVO Foundation, are researching ways to provide a more accessible voting system for disabled veterans.
